Senate District 8 to endorse candidates Saturday
Republicans in Senate District 8 will hold their endorsing convention on Saturday, April 26 at the Henning Community Center, 607 2nd Street.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 9:30 a.m. This will allow for registration of late arrival delegates and alternates.
The convention will be composed of delegates and alternates who were elected at the February 4 precinct caucuses designated as lying within the boundaries of House District 8A and House District 8B.
Those attending will endorse candidates for the November 4 election. This includes:
• House District 8A, currently held by Bud Nornes of Otter Tail County.
• House District 8B – Mary Franson of Douglas County or challenger Sue Nelson of Otter Tail County.
Delegates will also elect a Senate District 8 chair and act on any other items that might be proposed at the convention.
The convention will be called to order at 9 a.m. There will be a $5 cash-only fee for delegates and alternates at registration to cover the costs of the convention. There will be no fee for guests to attend the convention.
The Republican Party of Minnesota Senate District 8 encourages all elected delegates and alternates, and guests to attend the convention.
The caucus election of delegates and alternates is the grassroots of the process by which voters are given a voice in the election of candidates to represent the people in the general election.
