Seminar led by local pastor focused on servicemembers
Douglas County/Alexandria Beyond the Yellow Ribbon recently hosted a clergy training seminar at the National Guard Armory in Alexandria.
The seminar was led by Pastor Jeremy Pedersen, pastor of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and Fahlun Lutheran Church in Nelson and a Minnesota Army National Guard chaplain.
The seminar focused on issues servicemembers and their families face during a time of separation, whether a deployment overseas or two weeks of annual military training.
Seminar participants were greeted by Chaplain Buddy Winn, State Full-Time Chaplain in St. Paul, and discussion was held on how the faith community can support military servicemembers and their families.
Additionally, seminar participants received materials designed to help servicemembers and veterans in the community come “all the way home.”
Douglas County/Alexandria Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a local extension of a statewide initiative that raises awareness of the military and veteran community. The goal is to leverage community support of military servicemen and servicewomen and their families here on the home front.
