Section 6AA baseball: Minnewaska earns win in opener

A three-run fifth inning gave Minnewaska's Austin Giese enough room to work with and gave the Lakers a Section 6AA-West opening victory Tuesday night.

Giese pitched the final two frames of the win, earning the save as he gave up one hit and struck out two. That gave teammate Matt Paulson the win after going the first five innings.

Minewaska had a 2-1 lead heading into the fifth and led 5-1 before Pequot Lakes scored twice in the sixth.

Austin Ostrander drove in three runs in the game for the Lakers, notching three hits in the game, including a double.
