Runs by Lake Park-Audubon in each of the first three innings put the Chargers on their heels in the loser's bracket of the Section 6A softball playoffs Tuesday night, ending the season for Brandon-Evansville 9-6.

"[We] got off to a slow start but the girls battled back and almost pulled it out," said head coach Tim Pattrin. "Carlie [Steffenson] pitched great once again and finished her great career here."

Steffenson allowed nine runs, but just four of them were earned. She struck out four and didn't give up a walk in the loss.

Lake Park-Audubon put up two runs in the first, three in the second and two in the third for a seven-run lead before the Chargers were able to score.

Brandon-Evansville chopped away at the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, one in the fourth and two in the sixth to close the gap to 7-5, but a two-run seventh capped LPA's win as the Chargers added a single run in the final inning, but were cut short.

Megan Kokett, Emily Friedrich and Steph Roers all had two hits in the game.

"Our three seniors, Carlie, Alea [Alstead] and Jessie [Ranweiler] have been great over the years and will truly be missed. They have helped set the foundation to a great future and getting our program back on track.

"While we will be losing three great people," he added. "I am excited when I look to the future for this young team."
