Diane Fortenberry, 51, had lunch with friends on Friday and returned to her rural Osakis home to tend to her dog.

That's when she reportedly walked in on a burglary in her home.


She was assaulted and died from blunt force trauma injuries, according to preliminary autopsy results.

Fortenberry's son found her when he returned home around 4:40 p.m. Friday. She was transported to Long Prairie Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
