Broadway Street Reconstruction
Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received by the Alexandria City Council, at the Alexandria City Hall, 704 Broadway, Alexandria, Minnesota, until 11:00 A.M., March 28, 2014 on at which time all bids will be opened and read aloud for the furnishing of all materials, skill, labor and all else necessary for the Broadway Street Reconstruction Project, SP 2102-64 in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Major items include the following approximate quantities:
--20,292 CY - Common Excavation
--2,678 CY - Aggregate Base Class 5
--16,098 SY - Concrete Pavement
--6,152 LF - PVC Sanitary Sewer
--4,633 LF - PVC Watermain
--3,602 LF - RC Pipe Sewer
--53,172 SF - Concrete Walk
--4,768 LF - Concrete Curb & Gutter
Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or a bidders bond acceptable to the Alexandria City Council in an amount of at least five (5%) percent of the total amount of the bid, payable without condition to the Alexandria City Council. In case the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract or to give bond as required by law within the specified number of days after the award of the contract, such check or bond shall be forfeited as liquidated damages.

Optional paper copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of Widseth Smith Nolting & Assoc., Inc. 610 Fillmore Street, Alexandria, Minnesota 56308 upon payment of $80.00 for each set which is not refundable.
All bidders are required to attend the prebid conference on March 19th, 2014, 1:00 pm, at City Hall. This is a mandatory meeting for all bidders.
All bids must be submitted on the official forms, prepared by the Engineer for that purpose. Bids shall be directed to the City Administrator, securely sealed and endorsed upon the outside with a brief statement as to the work for which the bid is made.
The Alexandria City Council reserves the right to hold all bids for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time set for receiving bids and to reject any and all bids and to award the contract as the District deems in their best interest.
Minimum wage rates to be paid by the Contractors have been predetermined and are subject to the Work Hours Act of 1962, P.L. 87-581 and implementing regulations.
