Science is very clear on climate change
To the editor:
There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.” - Isaac Asimov
People should brace themselves for an onslaught of BS the upcoming midterms. Just remember that in a debate, sometimes one side is correct and the other side wrong.
For instance, many of our local Republican politicians don’t believe in climate change. They repeat known falsehoods to pretend like there is still “debate,” when in fact the science is very clear. Just because a right wing Fox “news” parrot claims the Earth is flat, that will never make that claim true. Science is science, and it is true regardless of whether Republicans accept it.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg. From Obamacare to Benghazi to cannabis to economics, these Republicans count on you to blindly accept their outrageous claims. Prove them wrong by objectively researching the facts.
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. - unattributed
