School Scoop: On site at AAHS

A new addition that Alexandria Area High School (AAHS) will be introducing to the community is Elkay Bottle Filling Stations.

Found throughout the school, students and staff will be able to quickly fill their water bottles at these stations without holding up the line for those who want just a drink at a regular water fountain. Stations like these have been a growing trend, popping up in universities and public places.

The stations are easy to use with the pushbutton activation and an automatic 20-second shut-off timer on the bottle filler, the perfect amount of time to keep a standard-sized water bottle from overflowing. The stations also include a Green Ticker on each machine, which counts the quantity of plastic bottles that are being saved with each use of the filler.

Including these stations in AAHS will help the transition of the new “no food or drink” policy in the academic wings of the building. The new policy that is printed in the recently approved Student/Parent Handbook does allow water in clear bottles. Assistant Principal Amy Sack stated at the June District 206 School Board meeting that this policy will help keep the new school looking clean and fresh.
