School District 206 receives grant for $100,000
Alexandria School District 206 was recently awarded a grant from 3M for $100,000.
The teaching and learning environment at the new high school will be organized into small learning communities/career academies.
These career academies, designed to prepare students for both college and work, are distinguished by three elements: personalized and supportive learning environment, core curriculum integrated with applied courses organized around a career theme, and community partnerships.
Students in grades 10-12 that choose to be part of the Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies and Natural Resources Academy will have the opportunity to learn the process of manufacturing design.
Students taking the course will design and build prototypes to make decisions about products for larger scale production.
