School boards recognized for their contributions to the community
The Minnesota School Boards Association has set February 23-27 as "School Board Recognition Week" in Minnesota.
The goal is to build awareness and understanding of the vital function an elected board of education plays in society.
The Alexandria School District 206 is joining with other districts throughout the state to recognize the important contributions board members make to communities.
"District 206 students benefit every day from the dedication and commitment to public education of our school board members," said Superintendent Terry Quist. "They establish a vision for our educational program and facilities, ensure strong fiscal management and accountability, and are committed to life-long learning by attending workshops to keep abreast of the latest trends in education.
"On behalf of District 206 staff, students and families, we extend our appreciation and thanks to the following school board members for their hard work and dedication," concluded Quist.
The 2008-2009 Board of Education and their years of service are as follows:
Alan Zeithamer - since 1983.
