Savageau becomes all-time Osakis scoring leader in win over Minnewaska
The Osakis girls’ basketball team ran away from another opponent in a 54-32 home victory over Minnewaska on Tuesday.
“I thought we played a good first half, I didn't think we played very well in the second half,” Kalpin said. “I thought we struggled against their pressure, we didn't defend the way we defended the first half, we kind of just let them pass the ball around.”
Annalise Savageau led the scoring with 19 and also became the all-time points leader in program history during the game. She surpassed Stephanie Roggenbuck’s 1,664 career points with a two point shot midway through the second half. She now sits at 1,668 career points.
Savageau had no idea she had broken the scoring mark until the announcement was made in front of the crowd.
“It feels good," she said. “I was really surprised, I wasn't expecting it at all. My coach called a timeout and then stopped the game, and I just thought he called a timeout to give us a break.”
The win now brings Osakis to 10-1 on the season.
