Update: Police arrest robbery suspect

Sandgren pleads guilty to trespassing

Michael Sandgren, 23, of Glenwood pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor trespassing charge in Douglas County District Court last week.

The felony-level, second-degree burglary charge against him was dismissed.

Sandgren and Ashley J. Pedersen, 29, of Alexandria were both charged after a burglary at 514 Fifth Avenue East in Alexandria on November 16, 2013.

A neighbor spotted the activity that morning and called police.

The Alexandria Police Department reported that after allegedly stealing several items from inside the residence and loading those items into their vehicle, Sandgren and Pedersen got into the vehicle and left the area, but were stopped by police nearby.

The vehicle reportedly contained numerous items of property from inside the residence that had been burglarized.

On Thursday, Sandgren was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for time served, community service in lieu of a fine and one year of probation.

Pedersen pleaded guilty to the felony burglary charges earlier this year and was sentenced to 32 days in jail, a fine and probation.
