Ryan earns top honors
Colin Ryan, son of Ken and Heidi Ryan of Alexandria and a junior at Jefferson High School, earned a top composite score of 36 on the American College Test (ACT) college admissions and placement exam.
Typically, less than 1/10 of 1 percent of all test takers earn the top composite score. Ryan was one of only four college-bound students in Minnesota to earn a 36 during the December 2008 test date.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. The average score for the national high school graduate class of 2008 was 21.1.
