Rosemary Jones, 97
Rosemary Ballenger Jones, 97, died July 18, 2014.
Rosemary was born August 8, 1916 at home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Gladys and Levi Ballenger. She graduated from Eureka High School in Kansas and attended business college for two years in Wichita, Kansas.
She worked at the AAA Farm Office in charge of crop insurance at the Register of Deeds in Kingfisher, where she met her husband, Orville F. "Hap," and at the Boeing Aircraft Factory as bookkeeper in Wichita.
Rosemary and Hap ran a resort on Lake Chippewa near Brandon in the late 1940s-50s. After selling the resort, she was employed as assistant cashier and secretary to the president at Citizens State Bank of Brandon, until retirement.
She has two sons, Bob and Dave. She loved music, reading, travel and art. Upon retirement, she and Hap moved to St. Helens, Oregon in 1975, where she continued volunteer work and perfected her strawberry freezer jam.
After Haps death in 1993, she moved to the Vineyard Place in Milwaukie, Oregon, where she developed a true passion for oil painting. She then moved to McLoughlin Place in Oregon City.
Rosemary is survived by her two sons, their wives, Janet and Jan; four grandchildren, Dan and wife Kari, Keith, Melissa and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Kelsey, Colby and Morgan; sister-in-law, Donna; two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister, Vivienne; and brothers, Lee and John.
Rosemary will be interred at Columbia Memorial Gardens in Scapoose, Oregon.
