Last Thursday afternoon, two local fire departments dealt with what seemed to be a smoldering fire on wheels.

At 4:50 p.m., the Alexandria Fire Department (AFD) responded to a semi load of hay bales that was smoldering out on Interstate 94 just east of County Road 17.

AFD was on scene for about 45 minutes dealing with the smoldering pile of hay.
