Roebke files for 7th District seat held by Collin Peterson
Alan Roebke of Alexandria has filed to run for the U.S. House of Representatives 7th District currently held by DFLer Collin Peterson.
Roebke is a Republican candidate for the August 10 primary, along with the party's endorsed candidate, Lee Byberg of Willmar.
Others in the race include Starbuck's Glen Menze, Independence Party, and Gene Waldorf, independent, of Grey Eagle.
In the 2008 Republican primary, Roebke received more than 48 percent of the vote.
In announcing his candidacy last week, Roebke said he's the only candidate who can deliver sound government policy that residents are demanding in 2010.
"I trump both Lee Byberg and Collin Peterson on all issues in the 2010 election, from first-hand experiences, including being on six continents by the time I was 31, to view the world first-hand and how the world affects us all," Roebke said. "Plus, I understand what family farmers need to prosper without subsidies and prevent the continued corporate take over of rural America."
Roebke said he has a simple health insurance plan that would insure all uninsured citizens today, not in the distant future like the reform the Democrats passed, and at a lower cost to taxpayers.
