Riedel promoted to colonel at U.S. Army War College

Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Riedel was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army on Friday, January 3. Brigadier General Dennis Wilkie officiated the ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the Army War College located in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where Riedel attends the one-year U.S. Army education program for senior military officers.

Prior to arriving at Carlisle Barracks, Riedel served at Headquarters, Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. He also served with the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Riedel is a 1985 graduate of Parkers Prairie High School and was commissioned through ROTC at the University of North Dakota in 1988.

He is a veteran with more than 24 years of military service, including service in the Minnesota National Guard. Riedel now serves as a civil affairs officer.

Riedel and his wife, Maija, are awaiting assignment orders following his graduation from the U.S. Army War College in June 2014.
