Richard Paulson, 80

Richard A. Paulson, 80, Alexandria, formerly of Fort Mohave, Arizona, died April 10, 2014.

Richard was born October 13, 1933 in Minneapolis, the son of Arthur and Elma Paulson. He graduated from Edison High School, Minneapolis, Class of 1952. Richard was united in marriage to LaVonne Fugile on July 2, 1954. To this union four children were born. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1954-1958.

Richard worked in the computer industry for 35 years with Univac, NCR Comten, which is now AT&T. Richard was on the board of the Webb Lake Association and treasurer of the church board in Hackensack.

Richard enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts, loved the outdoors where you could find him in the garden, on his tractor, or in the woods, where he had an obsession with not enough winter wood being cut. He especially enjoyed his many trips to the Boundary Waters and time spent at their lake home, which were filled with memories and laughter with his family, grandkids, relatives and long-time friends. In his final years, he wrote his own life story and other ancestry books for generations to enjoy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaVonne; and brother, Terry.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Keith (Roxanne) Paulson, Julie Paulson, Brian (Wendy) Paulson, Nancy (Carl) Langner; grandchildren, Erik Paulson, Freyja Paulson, Jesse Orttel, Shane Gilliland, Erika Paulson, Zach Paulson, Nate Langner, Katelyn Langner, Nick Langner; great-grandchildren, Josie Paulson, Matilda Oien, Alexander Olding; siblings, Patricia Ranger, Gin Grant, Mary (Bud) Moya, Bill (Cenia) Paulson, and Karen (Ed) Muntean.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. at Glen Cary Lutheran Church, 15531 Central Avenue NE (Hwy 65), Ham Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oak Park Cemetery.
