Results for Brandon school referendum reported

Here are the unofficial election results of Tuesday's special school referendum election in the Brandon School District.

Question 1: 238 yes votes; 95 no votes.

Question 2: 174 yes votes; 157 no votes.

These results are unofficial and may not reflect the complete totals.

If approved, Question 1 would authorize the district to renew its existing referendum of $500 per pupil for six more years. That referendum, which generated $136,947 for the district in 2008-2009, is scheduled to expire this year.

Question 2 would allow the school district to increase its general education revenue by an additional authorization of $200 per pupil. The additional funding, approximately $55,000 per year, would last six years (unless revoked or reduced as provided by law) and affect taxes payable next year.

Another school district in the area also held a special election, West Central Area Schools. Results were still being tabulated as of 11:30 p.m.
