Resorters teams ready for regions

The Resorters baseball teams that are still alive will start their run to what they hope is a state tournament berth this weekend.

Carlos and Long Prairie will both open up play tonight, Friday, in the Region 14C tournament. The Predators play in Urbank at 8 p.m. against the Bluffton Braves, while the Cougars open up against the Bertha Blazers in Perham at the same time.

Long Prairie is the Resorters East champion after beating the Cougars twice this past Sunday in the tournament championship. The Predators won game one 7-1 before edging Carlos 5-4 in the decisive game two.

The rest of the 14C tournament will be played in Perham. Rounds two and three will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be wrapped up with a championship game next Saturday at 8 p.m. with the final two teams advancing to state.

Brandon-Evansville and Urbank-Parkers Prairie will also open up the Region 16C tournament this weekend.

The Bluedogs will take on the Wolf Lake Wolf Pack out of the Lake and Pine North League on Saturday in Dent at 5 p.m. The winner of that game will play immediately after that against the Countryside League champion, Pelican Rapids.

Urbank-Parkers Prairie got a bye through the first round after winning the Resorters West championship. The Bombers will play the winner of Midway and Fergus Falls at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
