Resorters baseball: Schueler fans 14 for Carlos

The Carlos Cougars moved to 9-0 on the season with another dominant pitching performance, this time from Jay Schueler, in a 5-2 win over Long Prairie this past Saturday.

Schueler went all nine innings for Carlos on his way to a 14-strikeout performance. He scattered five hits and three walks. His only blemish came in the fifth when Long Prairie put up two runs after the Cougars had already taken a 5-0 lead through the first two innings.

Aaron Noetzelman and Gideon Burnham helped their team grab that early lead. Both players had a hit, including a double for Burnham, to go along with two RBIs. Greg Nathe added two hits as the Cougars generated enough offense early to hang on for the win.

Carlos leads the Resorters East Division and will match-up against West Division leader Brandon-Evansville this Sunday as part of a three-game weekend for the Cougars. They will welcome in Ashby on Friday for an 8 p.m. first pitch at Fireman's Field.

Carlos will then travel to Swanville for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday afternoon before heading to Evansville to play the Bluedogs on Sunday. That game is set for 2 p.m. with some bragging rights in the Resorters League on the line.
