Resorters baseball: Miltona upsets Urbank-Parkers Prairie
The Miltona Tigers bounced back from their 14-0 loss to Carlos on Saturday by taking an 8-4 game from Urbank-Parkers Prairie on Sunday.
Alexandria head baseball coach Russ Hinrichs got the start for the Tigers. He went five innings, allowing three runs and striking out three. Hinrichs worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and kept Miltona within striking distance before Ryan Peppersack came on in the sixth.
Peppersack preserved a 3-2 lead in his first inning of work by striking out the side after Jared Freudenberg reached second with nobody out.
The Miltona offense made a winner out of Peppersack an inning later. Alexandria's Dalton Leuschke gave his team a lead it wouldn't relinquish with a three-RBI double deep to left-center field. Ross Thompson followed that with a double of his own to make it a 6-3 game.
The Tigers added two more runs in the eighth to give Peppersack a little more room to work with. He stymied the Bombers' bats through four innings, striking out eight and allowing just one run.
The win gave Miltona sole possession of second place in the Resorters' East Division behind Carlos. The Tigers were 7-3 after the weekend split.
Miltona will have two more divisional games this weekend. They travel to Clarissa on Saturday for a 2 p.m. first pitch before wrapping things up with a 1 p.m. start time at home against Sauk Centre on Sunday.
