Resorters baseball: Miltona cruises past Urbank-Parkers Prairie
The Miltona Tigers picked up right where they left off in the regular season on their way to an easy win in the Resorters' East playoffs on Sunday.
Caleb Curry got his team going in the bottom of the first with a two-RBI triple that made it 2-0. The Tigers went on to run away with things against the Urbank-Parkers Prairie Bombers by a score of 17-2.
Miltona used four straight walks to start the second inning to help break the game open early. The Tigers scored four in the frame and went on to score two or more runs in every inning after that.
Chris Koep was once again in control on the mound. The lefty struck out five in five innings of work. He allowed one earned run on five hits. His defense helped him out when Jake Leuschke started a 3-6-3 double play that ended one of the only threats Urbank could put together. Cody and Caleb Curry each worked an inning of relief to close out the game.
Cody Curry led the Miltona offense with two hits. Ryan Emter, Tyler Erickson, Colin Erickson, Ross Thompson, Dustin Witta, Leuschke and Caleb Curry rounded out the hitting.
The win set up a semifinals match-up with Carlos this Saturday. The top two teams from the regular season will square off at 2 p.m. at Bernie Steidl Field in Miltona. The winner guarantees itself of a spot in the region tournament as the top two teams from the division playoffs advance.
Clarissa will host Urbank in the loser's bracket at 2 p.m. on Saturday, as well. The loser of that game will be eliminated, with the winner taking on the loser of Carlos and Miltona on Sunday for a chance to advance to the East championship game.
