Relay for Life is Friday
Celebrate, remember, fight back - three words that affect millions of lives.
Since its inception, more than $3 billion has been raised by the Relay for Life with more than 5,000 communities hosting relays each year, including Douglas County.
This year's Douglas County Relay for Life will take place this Friday and Saturday at Citizen's Field in Alexandria.
Team registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday followed by the opening ceremony at 6 p.m.
A free-will offering dinner donated by the Eagles, Auto Value, Henry's and the Minnesota Pork Board will also be served.
Throughout the evening, there will be live entertainment, including performances by The Rockettes, Rocking Horse Peter and the Jahari Tribe belly dancers. There will also be music from LiveWire, vintage cars on display, and a photo booth from Photo Magic.
Items will also be sold throughout the night to raise money for the fight against cancer. Items include Mawi Wowi smoothies and feather hair extensions.
From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., numerous activities will also be taking place, from "Minute to Win It" to children's games.
Clean up for the event begins at 5:30 a.m. Saturday and breakfast will be provided by Tennessee Roadhouse for team members involved with cleanup.
