Twin Cities acoustic rock band Reigning Runners Up will return to the area where it was founded to play two shows in Alexandria on Saturday, August 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Carlos Creek Winery and from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Sixth Avenue Wine and Ale.

A Twin Cities band is returning to the place it was founded. Reigning Runners Up (RRU), a vocally driven acoustic rock band, will play two shows in Alexandria on Saturday, August 24, at Carlos Creek Winery from 2 to 6 p.m. and at Sixth Avenue Wine and Ale from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

RRU is comprised of Patrick Sheppard, guitar/vocals; Chris Duffy, guitar/vocals; and Jason Matsch, drums/vocals.

Duffy and Matsch have been friends since college, where they collaborated musically on a regular basis. Duffy and Sheppard worked together in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where they founded The Crying St. Brendans, named one of the best bands in Green Bay in 2008 by the Green Bay Press Gazette.

In 2011, Matsch and Sheppard met at Duffy's wedding at Carlos Creek Winery and talked about starting a band.

RRU met for the first time in August of 2011, and they've been making music ever since. The band plays a mix of originals and covers, from the 1960s to today.
