Registration open for 2014 Polar Bear Plunge
It takes courage, bravery and a little bit of crazy to be a Polar Bear Plunger. Participants put it all on the line as they jump to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota.
Registration is now open for the 2014 Polar Bear Plunge Season. With 16 Polar Bear Plunge events scattered across the state, daredevils and do-gooders alike are ready to “BRRRing it on.”
The Alexandria Plunge will take place Sunday, February 23.
Now in its 17th consecutive year, the Polar Bear Plunge is part of the year-round Law Enforcement Torch Run, which supports more than 7,700 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes as they train, compete and transform themselves, their communities and the world.
Each year, law enforcement lend their time, energy and enthusiasm to host a variety of fundraising events to raise funds for and awareness of Special Olympics Minnesota.
Plungers jump into the frigid Minnesota waters as individuals or as a member of a team to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Although each participant must raise a minimum of $75 to plunge, the average plunger raised more than $200 in 2013.
