Red Cross helps Alexandria family after fire
The American Red Cross assisted a family of two adults and their baby with lodging and food Monday following a kitchen grease fire in their apartment at 1616 7th Ave. East, in Alexandria.
The fire, which was quickly extinguished, triggered the sprinkler system.
The Red Cross helps provide disaster relief for immediate recovery needs, such as shelter, clothing, food, and emotional support.
Local Red Cross leaders noted that residents can help people affected by disasters, like those impacted by fire, as well as crises at home and around the world, by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Gifts enable the Red Cross to prepare for and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters. Visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Contributions may also be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
