Reception to be held for House, winner of walleye stamp contest
The public is invited to an artist's reception for John House on Tuesday, June 19 at 5 p.m. at Art of the Lakes in Battle Lake. At the reception, House will unveil his award-winning Minnesota 2012 Walleye Stamp publicly for the first time.
House is the first and only artist to win all five of the Minnesota DNR fish and wildlife habitat stamp contests, an achievement called the "Minnesota Royal Slam." He has won awards for migratory waterfowl (1999); pheasant (2004); trout and salmon (2006); wild turkey (2008) and, his latest, walleye habitat in 2012. All five of his framed stamp wins will be on display.
Following the reception at 7 p.m., House will give a presentation on his work and career.
House paints and carves in Evansville and is a member of Art of the Lakes.
