Ready, aim, fire!
The Junior Viking Sportsmen, in conjunction with the Douglas County Pheasants Forever, held a trap shooting event at the Alexandria Shooting Park Monday.
The event, open to those enrolled in the Junior Viking Sportsmen program, featured 21 young people who practiced their aim at shooting trap.
There were at least two or three participants who hadn’t shot before, according to organizers. Other participants were more experienced, including some from the high school trap team.
The Viking Sportsmen is committed to supporting and advising the Junior Viking Sportsmen, a high school sportsmen/
women’s club that, to the best of its knowledge, is the only one in the state.
It is open to both boys and girls within the community.
Junior Viking Sportsmen’s mission statement is: “To recruit and retain our local youth into experiencing various activities of the great outdoors and build young leaders to carry on the tradition of ethical sportsmanship and conservation for the next generations.”
Junior Viking Sportsman instructors are Todd Lanners, Mark Anderson, Paul Kusmak and Jim Stratton.
