Randall Fath, 66
Randall "Randy" Carlyle Fath, 66, Blomkest, died January 6, 2014 at his home.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, January 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia.
Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Randy was born December 10, 1947 in Luverne to Celester Theodore Fath and Mary Catherine (Appel) Fath. He grew up on the family farm located on the Nobles and Murray county line, near Iona.
Randy graduated from Fulda High School in 1965. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972, including serving in Vietnam and Thailand.
Randy married Patricia Lee Aukes on October 10, 1973.
He attended Jackson Vocational School, where he first studied accounting and later graduated from the auto body program.
Randy worked in the auto body field first at Sherburn and then at Marshalltown, Iowa. Later he was employed by Standard Oil Fertilizer at Slayton and at Lakefield. In 1979, Randy and Patricia moved to Blomkest where he operated an auto body and car wash business. In 1989 they moved to Harrys Corner where he has operated Randys Auto Sales ever since.
He was a member of the Willmar American Legion. He enjoyed both ice fishing and summer fishing, hunting, and his pets Darby, Sara and Sarah. Randy truly enjoyed dealing with the public and visiting with everybody and he especially loved spending time with his three nephews, two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Randy is survived by his wife, Patricia Fath of Blomkest; mother, Mary Catherine Fath; brother, Bill (Trisha) Fath; three nephews, Troy (Julie) Fath, Chad Fath, and Nick Fath (Christy Gilleland); two great-nieces, Peyton and Seirra; and two great-nephews, Tyler, and Dylan.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Celester Fath.
