Raiders score 14 against Chargers

The Brandon-Evansville softball team could not contain Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale’s offense Thursday in a 14-4 loss on the road.

Seven hits for the Raiders combined with five errors defensively for the Chargers did stop the game from getting out of hand. Head coach Kasi Huschle said the better team won the game Thursday.

0 Talk about it

“Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale is a very tough team with some great hitters throughout their lineup,” Huschle said. “Their bats just were too much for us to handle. We couldn’t find our groove in the batter’s box or on defense and weren’t able to put together any rallies offensively.”

Lizzy Friedrich was handed the loss despite only giving up four earned runs in four innings. A total of nine runs scored while Lizzy Friedrich was on the mound as she allowed six hits, four walks and tossed two strikeouts.

Emma Friedrich led the Chargers’ offense by going 2-for-3 with a run, three RBIs and a home run.

The loss dropped the Chargers to 6-6 this season.
