'Quilts Along the Trail' set for September 12
The 6th annual Quilts Along the Trail show in Osakis will take place on Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Central Lakes Trail. The event is free and open to the public. Displays will include many varieties and time periods. A special showcase will focus on basket patterns.
The exhibits and activities will line two blocks of the Central Lakes Trail right next to downtown Osakis. Several vendor booths, a quilters' flea market, a consignment sale, food booths and live entertainment will be part of the quilt show. An ongoing "make and take" workshop takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A handmade quilt will be given away in a door prize for registering. Entries can register from now until two days prior to the show. There is no entry fee and no judging.
In case of rain, visitors are invited to see the displays at the Quilts Along the Trail Museum at 2nd and Main Street in Osakis. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through October 17.
Events on the trail on September 12 include the following.
A "bed turning" features a presentation with quilts displayed on a bed. As each quilt is turned, its history and other information are given by a qualified speaker.
The "challenge quilt show" features items done by local and regional quilters who have used the same pattern of fabric in a package of fat quarters. Some of these challenge quilt items will be for sale.
A "quilters' flea market" will include pre-cut fat quarters, other packaged quilt blocks, bags of useable scrap material and remnants, finished quilts and other quilted pieces.
