Public invited to free Christmas meal
The public is invited to attend the 20th annual Christmas dinner at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria on Tuesday, December 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A traditional dinner of meatballs, ham, potatoes, salad and Christmas cookies will be served. The dinner is at no cost. However, donations are accepted, and all money raised beyond the cost of the meal is donated to the Douglas County Outreach Food Shelf.
The Church is located at 221 West 7th Avenue, across from the old Central School. It is handicapped accessible with a ramp located on the east side and an elevator inside. Transportation, as well as carryout meals, is available in the local area.
No reservations are necessary. However, if people need transportation or desire carry out meals, they should call the office at (320) 763-3341 between now and 3 p.m. on Monday, December 24. Reservations are appreciated, to assist with planning.
Volunteers are also needed to help prepare the dinner, serve, wash the dishes, pick up people in need of transportation and clean up. Those interested in volunteering should call (320) 763-3341 by Friday, December 21.
