Project Bookshelf collects books for kids
2012 marks the 23rd year that the Alexandria Area Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Community Education District 206 are sponsoring Project Bookshelf.
New children's books are being collected and redistributed through the Jaycees Jingle Bells program.
The public is invited to donate books for children who may not get one this holiday season. Donations of money to Project Bookshelf are also appreciated as they enable AAUW to purchase appropriate books at a discount.
Financial contributions may be dropped off at the Community Education office, Woodland Elementary School, 1410 South McKay Avenue, or mailed to PO Box 308, Alexandria, MN 56308 by December 5.
New books for Project Bookshelf can be placed in special baskets at the following locations: Glenwood Public Library in Glenwood and at several locations in Alexandria including Book World, Cherry Street Books, Douglas County Library, Alexandria Technical and Community College, and the Community Education Office.
Books are needed by December 5 when they will be collected and sorted by reading level and then given to Jingle Bells for distribution.
