Prairie Fire registration open for ‘Snow White’
Registration is now open for the 28th annual Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre (PFCT) Day Camp in Barrett. This year’s production, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has roles for 75 young people.
Camp will be held Monday-Thursday, August 4-7 from noon to 5 p.m. and Friday, August 8 from 3 p.m. through show time.
Performances will be Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, August 10 at 1 p.m.
Registration is open to children ages 7-18 on a first come, first served basis. All campers are guaranteed a part in the play and participation in a theatrical workshop schedule.
All sessions and performances will be held at West Central Area Secondary School in Barrett. Car pool lists will be available. Host families are needed for out of town campers.
Originally premiering in 1987, Snow White was Prairie Fire’s first production. Campers will take the roles of Snow White, the Prince, the seven dwarfs, the ravens, the mirror, the forest creatures, the spellbinders and the townspeople.
PFCT managing director Jeremy Day will take on the role of the huntsman. Day starred last year as Geppetto in Pinocchio and the year before as the Evil Magician in Alladin and his Magic Lamp.
PFCT veteran Elizabeth Dunn will portray the Evil Queen. She played the Genie of the Lamp in 2012’s Alladin.
Since its first camp in 1987, Prairie Fire has brought together hundreds of young people from throughout the Midwest to collaborate on theatrical projects. The camp offers an opportunity for kids to learn about theater while building friendships.
