On Tuesday, August 7, the Alexandria Police Department and the city of Alexandria will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide and other parts of the world in a celebration against crimes and drugs, the 29th annual National Night Out.

The Alexandria Police Department will host the locally known Community Night Out at the Alexandria City Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Setup will begin at 4 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the event, organized in a community crime prevention effort to send a message to children and the community. The goal is to show the community what services the city of Alexandria has to offer its citizens.

Those representing the many different facets within the city include the Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Street Department, Alexandria Parks Department, Alexandria Fire Department, Municipal Liquor Stores, Runestone Community Center, Alexandria Light and Power, CenterPoint Energy, North Ambulance, Someplace Safe and City of Alexandria Cultural Inclusiveness Committee.
