Ploughshare Farm invites families to Fall Festival
A Fall Festival will take place at Ploughshare Farm in Alexandria this Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
There will be a potluck served for the hungry workers throughout the day. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish and the event will also have chili and stew available. That night, there will be live music.
Finnegans is also joining the celebration by offering its Irish Amber of Blonde Ale beverages. It will donate 100 percent of its profits to purchase fresh produce from the Ploughshare Farm that will be delivered locally to the Outreach Food Shelf to help those in need.
Make reservations to Gary Brever at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Ploughshare Farm is located at 601 Wintergreen NW, Alexandria.
"The Ploughshare Farm in Alexandria and Minnesota-based Finnegans want to do their part to make sure that those in need in Alexandria are well fed and have been doing so through Emergency Foodshelf Network's Harvest for the Hungry Program," noted Brever, owner of Ploughshare Farms.
In Alexandria to date, more than 4,000 pounds of produce have been delivered from Plougshare Farm to the Outreach Food Shelf.
In fact, the Harvest for the Hungry program itself has roots here; Brever was instrumental in creating the program with Pat Kerrigan, a staff member of the Emergency Foodshelf Network.
