Play by the rules

To the editor:

Who’s in control? We, the people (310,000,000 of us), or one man with a pen?

Every human endeavor has rules. Three strikes and you’re out. No hands on the soccer ball. Traveling with the basketball calls for side out. There are no right turns at the Indy 500. Robbing banks is illegal.

President Obama took a solemn oath to “protect and defend the Constitution,” which is our great country’s rule book. Yet his administration, which he controls and dominates, took over a private industry, which the Constitution doesn’t allow. He did the same with health care. Our private lives are no longer private.

His executive orders are not race-based. They are not part of apolitical party’s platform. They aren’t controlled by a half-dozen billionaires.

Rather, they are a narcissistic, brazen, abnormal exercise of raw political power. The totality of his numerous presidential decisions are unheard of in American history. If allowed to stand, as the law of our land, the United States of America will no longer be a representative republic; no more the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”

The people’s election in November 2014 will reveal if we the people agree with his policies or choose an alternative.
