Piepenburg wins Meet of Champions as girls finish fourth and boys finish 13th

Alexandria senior Jamie Piepenburg raced to a 14:20 and first place in the 39th annual Alexandria Lions "Meet of Champions" cross country meet at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center Saturday afternoon. Piepenburg was followed by teammate Megan Hasz in third in 14:32 and Bethany Hasz in fourth at 14:33. Bemidji's Jenna Truedson just edged out the two Hasz sisters by 1/100th of a second at 14:31.

The boys' winner was Zack Roozen of Mounds View in 15:49, three seconds ahead of Stillwater's first finisher, Wayde Hall.

Zac Bartolomeo was the first Alexandria finisher as he came in 18th in 16:43.

Monticello won the girls' varsity race with a 48, while Alexandria was fourth overall at 175. The boys' race was won by Stillwater with 52 points, while Alexandria came in 13th with a 327.

A total of 22 boys and 23 girls varsity teams competed.
