Several area students participated in the State Honors Concert held on May 30.

More than 5,000 students enter the state piano contest annually. Pianists with the highest grades in the contest finals are selected for ensemble performance in the State Honors Concert at the University of Minnesota. Students who participated include Alex Blaser, Intermediate B alternate, daughter of Todd and Rhonda Blaser, Alexandria; Marit Aaseng, Senior A, daughter of the Rev. Grant and Ruth Aaseng, Alexandria; Diana Engel, Intermediate B, daughter of John and Joyce Engel, Garfield; Nicki Olson, Senior A alternate, daughter of Dan and Diane Olson, Brandon; Cole Mercier, Jr. B, son of Jay and Deb Mercier, Glenwood; Kallan Mercier, Junior A, daughter of Jay and Deb Mercier, Glenwood; and Isabel Hartakolis, Jr. A alternate, daughter of Tim and Beth Hartakolis, Alexandria.

The teachers represented are Marcia Benson, Mercedes Hagen and Annette Helder.
