Photo of the Week - Yellow-rumped Warbler

Jim and Gayle Walz of Alexandria submitted this photo of a yellow-rumped warbler that was roosting in their pine tree near Lake Darling on a cold May morning. The warbler, known for its distinctive, sharp chirps, has subdued coloring all winter before its spring molt results in a mix of bright yellow, charcoal gray, black and white. If you have an item for “Photo of the Week,” send it to or drop it off at the newspaper office at 225 7th Avenue East, Alexandria. Remember to include when and where the photo was taken. (Contributed)
