Photo of the Week - Yellow-rumped Warbler

Jim and Gayle Walz of Alexandria submitted this photo of a yellow-rumped warbler that was roosting in their pine tree near Lake Darling on a cold May morning. The warbler, known for its distinctive, sharp chirps, has subdued coloring all winter before its spring molt results in a mix of bright yellow, charcoal gray, black and white. If you have an item for “Photo of the Week,” send it to aedenloff@echopress.com or drop it off at the newspaper office at 225 7th Avenue East, Alexandria. Remember to include when and where the photo was taken. (Contributed)
