Photo of the week - Lake Cowdry swan

Sharon Pedersen took this picture of a trumpeter swan on Lake Cowdry this past week. The trumpeter swan is the largest waterfowl species native to North America. Most trumpeters weigh 21 to 30 pounds and large males may exceed 35 pounds. Males are called a cob; the female is called a pen. They stand about four feet high and have a wingspan of more than seven feet.
