Pedestrian killed by train in Detroit Lakes
An unidentified man was killed by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train near Detroit Lakes, Minn., on Friday night, the Becker County Sheriff's Department reported Saturday.
BNSF reported the incident about 6:58 p.m., the sheriff's department said.
The eastbound train hit the middle-aged man as he was walking 400 yards east of the County Highway 54 railroad crossing, the sheriff's department said. The man was reported killed on impact, and no foul play is suspected.
The victim's body was sent to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office for identification, the sheriff's department said.
