Pat was born in Stearns County on August 12, 1932 to Edward and Regine (Dueker) Marthaler. Pat grew up on a farm near Westport with her parents and two brothers. Pat graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1950.

On April 15, 1952, she married Don-ald Vincent Miller at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Pat worked a variety of jobs in her lifetime. As a teenager, she worked summers in Waterloo, Iowa as a hospital dietary aide. After high school graduation, she worked as a psychiatric aide for the state of Minnesota at the Sauk Centre Home School. She was a census enumerator in 1970 and 2000. After her children were grown, she worked for Catholic Charities as the coordinator of the Sauk Centre Senior Dining Site. Later, she also managed the Eagles Club. From 1993 through 2002, Pat coordinated casino bus trips from the Sauk Centre area to various casinos.

Pat enjoyed volunteering and her first volunteer position was in 1962 as the West Union Township Red Cross Blood Drive coordinator. Pat served in various offices with the Christian Moth-ers at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, St. Michael's Auxiliary, Sauk Centre Senior Citizens, Sauk Centre Deanery Family Life and Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life.

In 1989 Pat received a community award for Best Female Volunteer and in 1994 she received a Community Service Award from Catholic Aid.

Educational travel was a strong in-terest for Pat. She especially enjoyed her trip to Italy for the 1975 Holy Year and a trip to France and Germany two years later.

Pat loved board games and playing cards and she was thrilled when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came for a visit so they could play games together. Pat was also known for her green thumb. She and Don tended extensive flower and vegetable gardens each year.

Survivors include her husband, Don; sons, Gene (Linda) Miller, Brian Miller (special friend, Karen Jennissen), all of Sauk Centre; daughters, Mary (Kevin) Swenson, Foley, Kimberly (Wayne) Danielson, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) Marthaler of Clarksdale, AZ and Ed (Marcia) Marthaler of Newport Beach, CA.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and three infant children.

A Memorial Mass was held April 17 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

In lieu of flowers, Pat requested memorials to Holy Family School, Sauk Centre, or New Beginnings in St. Cloud.
