Participants sought for Prairie Fire's performance of 'Pinocchio'
Registration is now open for the 27th annual Prairie Fire Children's Theatre Day Camp in Barrett. This year's musical production, Pinocchio, has roles for 74 young people.
Camp will be held August 5-8 from noon to 5 p.m. Performances will be August 9-11. Schedules on show days will vary. All rehearsals and performances will be held at West Central Area Secondary School in Barrett.
Registration is open to anyone ages 7 to 18 on a first-come, first-served basis. All campers are guaranteed a part in the play and participation in a theatrical workshop schedule. A number of scholarships are available.
The theme this is the Italian comedy technique commedia dell'arte, which incorporates improvisation and larger than life physical comedy.
Car pool lists will be available, as well as host families for out of town campers who find travel prohibitive.
Prairie Fire offers an opportunity for kids to learn about theater while building friendships that can last a lifetime.
Last year's Alladin and his Magic Lamp camp was attended by more than 70 young people representing more than 40 communities and five states.
The camp is conducted by a team of three professional actor/directors from Prairie Fire's staff. This year's crew includes veteran Jeremy Day of Spenser, Wisconsin, and newcomers Allison Scherer of Geneseo, Illinois, and Lukas Newsome of Albany, Georgia.
