Parkers Prairie Lions celebrate 50 years of service
The Parkers Prairie Lions Club, which was chartered in 1963, is celebrating 50 years of service to Parkers Prairie and the surrounding area.
Chartered by 24 community members, the club has continually held service events and fundraisers to support the many health projects, youth programs and facilities in the community and school district.
One of the first projects, in the early 1960s, was Lake Adley Park just south of the community. Since then, football field lights, the community swimming pool, Prairie Event Center, new city hall funding, plus many youth events and special youth trips have been the causes of the Lions.
On Saturday, October 5, the Lions will have a 50th anniversary event to celebrate their participation in contributing to the community at large.
The celebration will be held at the Prairie Event Center in Parkers Prairie. The public is invited to attend.
A special guest, international director Brian Sheahan of Bird Island, will attend. A social, banquet and entertainment will be on the agenda.
Entertainment for the evening, following the dinner, will be provided by Heart O’ Lakes Harmony, a chorus from the Detroit Lakes area.
