Parkers Prairie adds new hotel and welcomes general manager
A new 33-room, limited-service hotel, Crossings Inn and Suites, will open in Parkers Prairie in July and will be managed by the St. Paul hospitality firm, Morrissey Hospitality Companies (MHC). Gamila "Gem" Saied was hired to be the general manager.
"MHC is excited to join the Parkers Prairie and Otter Tail County communities," said Bill Morrissey, president of MHC. "The term limited service should only be a classification of a type of facility. We will make sure the word 'limited' does not define the guest experience or the hotel's involvement with the community."
The hotel is now accepting reservations for July 27 and beyond. It will work in conjunction with the Parkers Prairie Event Center for weddings, meetings, family celebrations and other group events.
All guestrooms and suites will have free wireless Internet, mini refrigerator and microwave, individual temperature controls, Seattle's Best Coffee, Bath and Body Works products, desk or activity table, clock radio, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and Gourmet Express Breakfast.
The hotel is non-smoking and pet friendly with a large, indoor pool and whirlpool, party and meeting room, guest laundry and business hub with wireless printing. The hotel will be a Crossings brand, a member of the GrandStay Hospitality, LLC out of St. Cloud.
Saied joined the hotel and MHC from Jamestown, North Dakota as general manager. Previously, she worked with Motel 6 and Quality Inn and Suites across North Dakota, Iowa, Virginia, Nebraska and Wyoming and graduated from the University of Mary with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and a minor in hospitality.
"Gem's passion for customer service, experience and positive attitude will make her a wonderful addition to the Parkers Prairie and Otter Tail communities," said Morrissey.
MHC in St. Paul is a hospitality management company that manages hotels, restaurants and convention centers such as The St. Paul Hotel, Pazzaluna Urban Italian restaurant and the St Paul River Centre.
