Panther girls open tourney with win over Comets
Sari Noga and the Parkers Prairie girls' basketball team were not about to let Hillcrest Lutheran Academy feel like it had any chance of upsetting the No. 1 seed in the Section 6A south.
Noga had a game-high 35 points and 12 rebounds to help the Panthers beat the Comets 70-35 last Thursday night. Madison Dorn hit four threes on her way to 14 points, as well.
The Panthers never let Hillcrest into the game. They jumped out to a 36-15 lead at the break. That only grew in the second half as Noga led the charge with 16 points after halftime.
That sent Parkers Prairie into a second-round match-up with Battle Lake. The Battlers beat the Panthers in their first meeting but lost 74-30 on February 16. Parkers was too much for them this time around as they advanced to the subsection title game with a 57-37 win.
That game was scheduled to take place last night, Tuesday, against Hancock. The Owls came in as the third seed in the subsection, and having lost to the Panthers on February 13.
