The first concert of the season for “Music in the Gardens” at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum’s Maritime Gardens in Alexandria kicked off Friday evening with a special event thanking sponsors and donors who helped bring life to the gardens project.

The band, the Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins, took the stage at 7:30 p.m. and shortly after, a brief downpour broke up the show and drove the crowd to seek cover.
