Saturday’s Kentucky Derby was celebrated Theatre L’Homme Dieu (TLHD) style in Alexandria, complete with fancy hats, derby attire and races.

The annual “Run for the Roses” event added two new twists this year: a 5K run/walk and a zero-K race, which covered three feet from start to finish.

A Kentucky Derby party and fundraiser was held at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum. Participants were encouraged to dress up for the occasion. They watched the race on a big screen TV and enjoyed entertainment, prizes and Southern-style food.

Proceeds from the event support TLHD, Minnesota’s longest running summer theater.
